i've got the 9' tfo .5-3.5oz as a daily driver two piece that stays in my car and replaced a beater tica that finally kicked the bucket. it's a well built rod but the action is a little fast and it's a little too dainty for my taste and hand size. it may break in a little. i will need to add some kind of tape or cork above the reel because it is very thin and feels like a toy in your hands when you are working pencils. extremely fun and responsive rod for spooks and small jigs, and if you're looking for something lightweight and durable that will not break the bank then it is a very good option. it's also downright beautiful. i get comments all the time. butt is a little long for my taste. maybe 2.5-3" less and i'd be happy. 4000 is where it is balanced best but i run a 200 staal on it all the time and it's not all that out of place. 100 or 150 staal would be more ideal. i run 40 lb braid to 40 flouro on the staal and 20 lb braid to 30 lb mono on the 4000 BG. i hear the 11' rated for .5-2 is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on for small bucktails and plugs.

Nah I think it's one of the tastiest fish on the eastcoast. Definitely northeast. I'm not letting that one go.

Awesome catch! US catch and release anglers ought to check out the unhooking mats and weigh slings used by European carp anglers. It is literally essential equipment over here, doesn't cost a lot and is of great help when unhooking, weighing and photographing big trophies. It takes away the stress about damaging the fish and gives you peace of mind while you get that perfect trophy shot before getting it safely back without a scratch. Not lecturing just a friendly tip.

Stripe Bass at the cape is one of the dream trips. I'm from the Cleveland area so big walleye, smallmouth and the steelhead run is the best I've got. A few good musky lakes as well but no good blue or flathead waters. There's a reservoir near me that used to stock stripers and the state record came from there. Had to be pushing 40 pounds which is nuts for a landlocked striper in a relatively small body of water. They're gone now, probably hasn't produced one in over a decade. I'm not kidding I have seen bigger strippers in Boston feet from Long Wharf. I worked for BHC and we would feed them hot dogs I swear if that was 50 inches and 46 lbs these could be world record fish.The ones in Boston make that fish u caught look like a schooly.
